If there was one thing that Lex Verde knew at the moment, it was that his body was craving nicotine. He hadn't been able to smoke earlier in the morning like he normally did right as he got up, and it had set him on edge all the way through morning classes. He'd blown up twice, yelled at three people who probably didn't deserve such (two of which were in one situation and the third in the second), and all but started a fight over a few petty words that normally wouldn't have phased the man in the least. He knew the signs in himself a bit too well, or possibly he was just very aware of the fact that he felt the compulsion to smoke, one or the other. Thus, as soon as the morning classes were open and lunch break had started, rather than go to the dining hall, Lex had headed straight for the student lounge hoping that everyone would be away so that he could smoke in peace.
Though it probably would have been smarter on the young man's part to go outside and away from society to break out the cigarettes that were slowly ruining his still prominent health, he honestly wasn't thinking straight at the moment, and the student lounge was closer --or at least he thought it was. Upon stepping into the room, Lex found himself in luck: there was no one there at the moment. Walking quickly to the window on the other side of the room, the grey haired young man thrust the window open with one hand and yanked out a pack with the other. As he shoved the window just a bit more open, he began to fumble with a cigarette until it was sitting in his mouth. Dropping the pack as he pulled out a lighter, which honestly was probably against school codes to have but who cared at the moment, and lit the end.
And thus, Lex melted. Ahhh that was so much more satisfying than he would ever admit, and he found himself simply laying on the windowsill with the cig doing it's job of burning. All his irritation, general frustration and the like was slowly sliding away with the miracle of the flame and smoke. After a few minutes of simply sitting there, Lex slowly pulled the backpack he had on his back off and flipped out a laptop opening it with ease and logging in rather quickly. Time to check his e-mails.
None.
Damn. Well, he honestly didn't know what he had been expecting anyways, and after a few seconds, he simply closed out of the e-mail service and pulled up an online game. Typing in his access information before starting to play, Lex closed off his mind from his surroundings and simply focused on smoking and playing.
Who needed food these days anyways?

The hall was quiet. But that’s because everyone was already eating at some place or another. He’d been so deep into his dream this time that not even the bell had woke him. Instead, he had woken up to an angry growl that shook his stomach and for what, no halftime show? And where the hell had his friends slipped off to?They probably thought it would be a funny thing to see him pass out from hunger during class. Well, he’d get back at them later. Rather, he turned up the volume of his headphones until the music numbed all his thoughts of revenge. The hall he wandered through became even quieter as it was tuned out completely, a pair of girls bustling by and chatting off enthusiastically to that silence, their voices drowned out by hard lyrics. They spared him some askew glances as they passed him by, but he didn’t even notice.
The student lounge room conveniently popped up along the way. Laike stood at its door for a moment before waltzing in, as if contemplating whether the room was safe to walk into, while eying the comfort level of the couch by the far wall. He gave in to a wide yawn and lumbered over to the couch before flopping face first unto its cushions. A thought hit him hard then and he lifted up his chin. He glared menacingly at the vending machine across the room as he realized he’d forgotten to buy himself a snack before lying down. Now he would have to motivate himself to get back up. But before that, his gaze was drawn to the open window were the guy from before was still busying himself over his computer and— “Hey…Yeah, you. Got an extra one of those?” It had been a while since he'd sucked on some smokey nicotine. Should he have called him ‘buddy’? It could have backfired though. The guy didn’t look all that sociable after all. Only a small handful of computer geeks were, in any case, to his experience. Still, Laike eyed the smoky trails of his cigarette almost wistfully. Not because his bloodstream was short or begging for the stuff. He just suddenly and fervently wanted a smoke. He stretched out his pinky finger. "I won't tell anyone."

Son of a bitch. Lex scowled viciously at the 'You Lose' screen as though threatening it to keep flashing the red and white letters that signaled defeat. Muttering something quiet and indicernable, he brought a finger to his cigarette and was about to move it from his mouth and blow a smoke ring at the screen when a voice hit his ears. “Hey…Yeah, you. Got an extra one of those?” Hu? Looking up over his computer, Lex raised his eyebrow and stared in confusion at the man that was on the couch.
He hadn't even realized anyone had come in, but then again, that was how Lex became when he was gaming. There was little that caught his attention outside of a direct call. "I won't tell anyone." Eh? Oh, he wanted a fag? Closing the lid on his laptop, Lex smirked slightly looking over the man in question. It wasn't like one could easily tell someone who smoked unless they had the smell of smoke on them, but for whatever reason, Lex had come to believe he could pick out who smoked and who didn't. However, this young man before him didn't seem like the type. Pft, was he some kid just wanting to try? Well this could be funny... for him anyways. Fishing out his box, he pulled a stick out and twisted it in between his fingers not making to get up or offer it out just yet.
"Yeah?" he asked if in somewhat of a cynical tone that held just a hint of a condescending note. "These things don't come cheap ya know." After a moment he slid it down between his two fingers and held it outwards. "If you get me caught, and they get taken away, I'm gonna kick your ass," he smirked, and in another moment, a laugh escaped him.
Despite the laugh, his face was intently serious and held almost a threatening quality. He was dead serious when it came down to it. Cigs were hard enough to come by on the island, and having a teacher confiscate them would only piss him off.... and he had already been pissed off enough today.
