The only son and only child of two wealthy merchants who had resolved to settle down in Floe Island, Lex Verde was given everything a child could ever ask for and then some. He was never lonely, never hungry, never in need of anything for too long before that need was fulfilled. He had the complete respect and attention of his parents (when he asked for it, anyways), along with their family butler and two maids. He grew up receiving expensive gifts, things he both needed and didn't. He'd be set up with private teachers from the day he could walk, and all were carefully handpicked to be the best in their fields as well as kind and nurturing in nature.
Despite all this, more often than not, Lex was unhappy. He never got to make his own friends or live his own life. He was always the "son of Richard and Emily" rather than Lex, and those he interacted with were always filtered through his parents first least anyone "bad" happen to impose or influence their son in any form or fashion. Even as a young child, Lex'd get frustrated at people and resorted to hitting and hurting those who angered him (read as: everyone). He grew solitary at a very young age of eight, refusing to see people at times and locking and baracading his door when that didn't work. Most of his time was spent on the computer, learning things online and reading whatever he happened to get his hands on. He spent a lot of time playing online games and writing out stories that happened to come to mind. He'd make friends with a few online people, but they were never something he couldn't shut off any time he wanted to. People were more often treated as toys, possessions, and tools by the young boy who believed himself to be independent.
Though they worried greatly for their son, Richard and Emily simply didn't know what to do. They'd given him everything, and they thought that would make him happy! However, it only seemed to blow up in their faces. Finally deciding the boy needed some outdoor experiences to really get his life going, they forced him out of his childish cave and set him across several of the islands to a monastery wherein he was supposedly going to learn the art of Xiolin fighting...which would somehow liven up his spirits, of course! No they were not simply kicking him out who told you? Arceus only knows the sheer amount of kicking and screaming that went on when Lex was 'sent away' as he put it. Lucky for Lex, he was allowed to take his laptop... only after considerable screaming fits.
Though he despised it at first, Lex actually found himself oddly at home in the monastery. Most lived independently and simply did what they needed to to take care of themselves. It was a hard life, especially for the young boy who had never experienced anything of the sort (read as: hard labor), but it gave him something to do... made him feel like he had a purpose. Thus, he did what he could, worked as hard as he could, and trained there.
Two years passed, and around the time Lex turned eleven, he began to hear voices. At first he thought he was going mad and panicked greatly, but after some encouragement from the monk who had supervised his training, Lex began to listen to the voices.... He couldn't understand what they were saying at first, but as he listened more carefully still, Lex began to discern one voice: a calm careful voice that asked him to pay attention. To what? Lex would only learn in his dreams later when a Mienshao appeared and began to talk to him. At first it scared the young man, but he slowly grew to admire the Mienshao. The creature became his friend... and even closer than that still....
During one of his training sessions, Lex suddenly felt himself change, and he fell to his knees startled and in pain. He didn't even realize he had passed out till he woke up again only to find a Hitmonchan asking him if he was alright. Lex quite literally freaked out. However, after some calming down, Lex would learn that the Hitmonchan was actually the monk who had watched over him, and apparently Lex had tapped into his inner pokemon. Though he didn't understand this at first, Lex did when he looked in a mirror only to find a Mienshao staring back at him. Once more, he had a rather major freak out yet calmed. The monk assured him it was alright and that a few in the monetary were like them as well. Lex grew to appreciate this....it would be alright.
He'd train using his new form as well as his old for a few years, yet when the call that his parents had mysteriously disappeared came, Lex was left in a horrible state. The thirteen year old didn't know whether to run out and try and locate them or what, exactly. However, after confiding with the monk some more, he calmed and returned home. He would inherit everything: money, the house, and the trading company that his parents had worked so hard to build up. After talking with a few close family friends and a lawyer, he eventually put a man in charge of the company with the notion that upon the age of twenty-five, Lex would take it up fully and run it. The man promised to step down and act as a second in command when that time came, and thus papers were signed and stored.
Lex didn't know what to do with his life then. He was fourteen, a known form charger -as the monks called it -, and the side head of a large trading company. After a while, he simply went back to the monks again to seek advice. After some talks and information passing, Lex learned of a school called Avalon Academy. Though he wasn't fond of school, he was fond of the thought of meeting other people that could change like him. Thus, after a bit of work, he managed to get in.
School was a nightmare at least at first. There were so many people, so many children, and he had no idea how to act around them. He'd always been a private sort of person, and it was overwhelming among other things. He got rather angry most of the time, and after a year of school he ended up settling for the general 'ass' role of sorts and began to play into it well. Somehow or another, against all policy on the island, he ended up taking up smoking from one of his fire friends during his sophomore year and has been stuck on it since: getting rather violent when he can't have his nicotine. He also ended up joining the Elysium league after the same fire friend encouraged him and worked his way through becoming one of the Elite Four during his junior year. Thus he is now a senior and doesn't seem to actually know what he wants to do with his life.
