Golden eyes blinked a couple of times, staring at the large tree before him. This was probably the largest tree he had ever seen! He had seen some pretty decently sized ones when his mother dragged him away from his father's house, but none as large as these! The boy stared up in wonder, taking a few steps back so he could get a better look at the huge tree. His fiery tail swished back and forth, hooves digging into the dirt. He stretched his head up to the sky, trying to see if he could find the top of the tree. When the strain on his neck was too much, he lowered his head, shaking is to relieve a bit off the tension.
Layne's gaze swept around the area, finding no one else here. Well, that was a good thing. He didn't want anyone around at the moment. His eyes locked back on the tree. He had heard rumors that the tree was able to relieve stress, and that was exactly why he was here... In his Pontya form. Student Council seemed to be one of the main reasons he was so stressed, but it wasn't like he could leave. Besides, he rather liked being the Secretary. The colt hesitantly strode closer to the tree, lowering his head some more to sniff the ground. He didn't want to sit anywhere that was suppose to be occupied by either another shifter or normal Pokemon.
Finding nothing but the scent of foliage, Layne slowly laid down, tucking his front legs underneath him. For some reason, he always found this position comfortable, and being surrounded by the tree's roots helped in that factor. Within moments, he found his eyes slowly closing.

Crystal blue eyes gazed out at the serene forest. The eyes sat in the sleek, black-furred head of an umbreon. Or rather, an umbreon shifter. The umbreon's rings glowed bright gold as she sat beside a large rhododendron. The blossoming flowers on the bush smelled quite pleasant which was the very reason she had chosen to be near the plant. Contrary to popular belief, she did enjoy the small things in life like nature, beautiful scenery... and peacefulness. Which the forest she currently sat in provided. It also gave her time to be away from her tough classes and let her have a breather... Not that she was horrible at school, mind you, but everyone needed a break every now and again.
With a content sigh the umbreon shifter rose to her feet, she turned to give the bush one last sniff before heading deeper into the forest. Where she was going to now she wasn't quite sure. She would just be content to travel wherever her paws took her. The forest didn't scare her and neither did anything in it. She wasn't a member of the Elysium Elite Four for nothing, the teenaged umbreon could could handle herself quite well in battle. It was one thing she allowed herself to feel smug about, although she wouldn't let herself get too cocky about. Arceus, did she hate it when others were cocky about everything...
A glow off to her right caused the umbreon to turn her head curiously. What was that? A human or a pokemon? She doubted it was a forest fire as there was no smell of smoke... Should she investigate or just let it be? Deciding in an instant that she should see what it was the shifter dimmed the rings on her body and stalked towards the glow. As she neared the object began to take on an equine shape and was white in color with flames coming off its body. It was a ponyta. Possibly a shifter or maybe a wild pokemon. She didn't know nor did she have the want to find out lest it be a talkative being... I should just sneak off and pretend like I didn't see anything... The umbreon shifter was fully prepared to do so until one of her hind paws stepped on a twig, causing it to snap loudly. Damnit... Now there was no sneaking away as if she were never there, ponytas were skittish creatures and it was sure to have heard her... Although she could always run away... but no, that was downright rude. And Tamira Arbum was never purely rude... Unless she didn't like someone. Clearing her throat she boldly stepped out of the foliage, she allowed her rings to glow fully again as she watched the golden eyed ponyta... Wait... Golden eyed? Well well, then this little horse must have been a shifter with eyes that color. "Evening. Didn't mean to disturb you." She glanced up above the ponyta at the large tree... The Elder Tree. She had heard that it was supposed to relieve stress, maybe it could relieve some of hers. "Hope you don't mind, but I would like to lie down here for a while." Even if you do mind I'm lying down anyway... She added silently striding over to take a place underneath the tree. Tami hoped that the little ponyta shifter wasn't like some of the other kids at the acamdemy... Those that talked for the sake of hearing their own voice (or so it seemed like). The umbreon shifter rather enjoyed peace and quiet. ((Hope you don't mind my jumping in :3)) [/blockquote]

The Ponyta's head slowly dipped down, resting itself between one of his front legs and his side. Completely at ease, the shifter allowed his mind to wander. The world around him vanished, being replaced with the wide open clearing he visited many times in his childhood dreamworld. Sure enough, that same Ponyta was waiting for him. The fire type let out a high pitched whinny in greeting, and the blond let a soft chuckle escape from him. The fire colt trotted around him in a circle, closing in every so often to nudge him playfully. Layne pushed back, taking off into a sprint. The Ponyta followed, keeping pace easily.
The pair continued running until the boy could feel his legs turning to jelly. Collapsing on to the never ending grassland, he allowed the Ponyta to sniff him and nudge at him. He let out a laugh at this, pushing away the Pokemon's head. A few moments passed before his companion's head shot up, ears perking before swiveling. Layne blinked a few times as the grassland around him disappeared, and his own Ponyta form head shot up from its resting place. That was a branch or twig breaking, right? Gold eyes scanned the area, ears swiveling back and forth to pick up any sounds.
A voice caused the colt to jerk slightly in surprise, and his head turned almost fast enough to cause whiplash. An... Umbreon? No, a shifter Umbreon. The--er, her--eyes are blue. The younger simply nodded, really not knowing whether to speak or not. She did ask him a question, after all, but his father would strike him whenever he spoke... A tremble ran up his spine at the thought, and he quickly pushed it away. "I... I don't mind..." Layne shifted his position back to how it was, the jerk from earlier having changed his position to be less comfortable. Golden yellow eyes watched the Umbreon warily. He didn't know who she was, most likely an upperclassman, and the little Ponyta from his dreams were telling him to be on guard.

The ponyta's head viciously jerked as he turned it in Tami's direction. Had he been dozing off or something? Well, it didn't matter... For all she cared he could very well go back to sleep and stay that way, the umbreon shifter wouldn't bother him. "I... I don't mind..." Good. "Thanks." The shifter's voice didn't sound grateful in any way, she didn't mean to be so cold it was just how she was. Being raised in her parent's family had taken its toll on her persona. The ebony furred pokemon slowly made her way to the tree and laid down a couple of feet away from the other shhifter, completely aware of how the little ponyta watched her. She didn't blame how nervous he looked, she probably seemed like a dangerous stranger to the little pony pokemon. Not the safest one to be lying next to. However, Tamira only wanted to relax; something she was sure that she and the ponyta had in common. The umbreon curled herself into a ball, much like a cat taking a nap would, and allowed her rings to dim until they were barely visible in the dim light of the forest. The shifter probably appeared to be asleep but she was far from it. A perceptive person would notice that her ears were partially raised to better hear her surroundings as the blue-eyed umbreon never let her guard down unless she was sure it was completely safe. If Tamira was the type of person that enjoyed conversations she probably would have asked the ponyta's name or asked about who he was but she didn't... The umbreon-shifter much preferred to keep to herself, only speaking when in the presence of close friends or if another person spoke to her first. Not to be rude of course, but because that was just her personality. [/blockquote]
