But Claudia didn't mind. It made her job all the easier.
Drifting between two bookshelves, a cart piled high with books being pushed in front of her, the Gardevoir waved her long, graceful arms, watching as books drifted off of the cart, floating to their places on the shelves. It was her job to make sure the library was looking its absolute best, or else she could get in trouble with administration. That was the last thing she wanted. This library had become her life, even though she had only been in charge of it for a couple years now. She had already promised herself that she would not leave Avalon Academy until she had read every book in the library. That was a dream that was a long way off, even for one like Claudia, who read more than an average bookworm.
Stopping in the middle of putting a book up on its proper shelf, Claudia noticed one that was out of place. A book on berries within the history section. This would definitely not do, not at all! Students needed to learn to be more responsible with these precious pieces of knowledge! Last thing Claudia wanted was to have to lecture someone on the importance of a well-organized library, but if things got worse, she feared she wouldn't have a choice. Exchanging the offending book with its proper volume, Claudia placed the book on berries on the top of the stack, waving one hand and watching the cart turn around and, once she got behind it, pushing forward seemingly of its own volition. Smiling, the Gardevoir gazed out from between the shelves toward the empty library. It was times like these that she wished she had a Pokemon to keep her company, but keeping Pokemon on campus was forbidden unless they were necessary for class. She didn't agree with the rule, but she guessed it was there for a reason, and thus held herself back from challenging it.
But she knew she was allowing her mind to wander, and thus had to stop if she wanted to get all of the books put away. Drifting behind the rolling cart, Claudia peered down one row of shelves, then noted the books on her cart. Several of the books there went into this section, so she knew she would be a while. With that, she waved a hand again, watching the cart drift down the first row, books floating up into their places as she passed.
Quiet afternoons were the best, but at the same time, they were the worst. You were alone, which was both good and bad. While Claudia did enjoy the fact that the library wasn't full of loud chattering teens, it was the same thing that gnawed at her. It was too quiet. Much too quiet.[/style][style=background-color: #f7f7f7;float: right; height: 370px; width: 100px; -webkit-border-radius: 0 10 10 0; -webkit-box-shadow: 1px 0px 5px #d4d4d4; padding: 10px; margin-right: -120px; margin-top: -400px; font-family: arial; font-size: 20px; color: #da2328; letter-spacing: -1px; ]notes come on in! you know you want to!

The school itself was uncharacteristically quiet for a Monday afternoon, well, to the perception of one walking Luxray, anyways. Maksimilian Kirov had spent a good deal of the morning reprehending students for misconduct concerning mass prank followed then by a series of 'flash mobs' or some other estranged teenage fad that Maks would never quite understand. School was simply not the place for people to participate in such activities, and instead, children should have been focusing on learning useful skills for future occupations or training themselves in their forms. Anything else was extraneous. Thus, he had, more or less considering whose perception one too, justly set down repercussions for the violations.
However, now that the bulk of his expenditures had finally come to a close, Maks was left to prowl the halls of the school using his piercing stare to circumvent the substance of walls and pipes to see into classrooms and the like. Even if it was the afternoon hours now, any sort of violations was not allowed, yet oddly enough, he hadn't found any more violations yet which, though this made his job a bit more boring, was a good thing for the school overall. Wandering for a bit, Maks finally found himself at the doors of the library. His sharp eyes had already allowed him to see within the library, but after some consideration, Maks walked in anyways.
The gentle sound of paws on the floor echoed eerily in the quiet library, yet his own footsteps didn't bother the assistant headmaster in the least. Instead, he looked up towards the checkout for a brief moment finding that the librarian wasn't there before turning his head back and starting through the library. In all honesty, Maksimilian did find himself impressed with the library and its upkeep, especially with only one librarian there. However, the fact that the librarian in question was a Psychic shifter had always caused Maks to have a high expectation of the woman who took to the books. Let it be that he had a sort of reverence for those that could wield power to make things float and change on what he had always assumed to be a whim, but then again, Maks himself was all muscle when it came down to it. He had a right to be awed at least for a moment.
Upon walking down one of the hallways, Maks finally did actually find the librarian. "Good afternoon, Miss Leone," was the standard greeting of the large cat man. Such greetings were actually some of the major few phrases that he could put together without stopping to fall into silence thinking on whether they would be understood correctly or not, and because of this, he was more comfortable with them. That being said, with this actual greeting stated, he was left to that silence for a moment before he carefully chose the words he would use next. "How are you?" Yes, another standard phrase but it was one that was used more rarely and sometimes substituted with some parallel or another.

She didn't think much of it, though, as she had imagined it was just some student coming to find a book or making the trek to their favorite comfy armchair to curl up in and study. So, as a result, Claudia continued on with putting books away, swapping out the ones that didn't belong with the ones that did. Her pile of books grew ever smaller as she went from row to row, until a voice startled her.
The Gardevoir's slender shoulders jerked, and she went stiff, startled by the fact that the source of the footsteps was, in fact, right behind her. Giving herself a second to relax, Claudia turned around to face the Luxray--something that only startled her even more, though she managed to keep herself controlled this time. Placing the book she had suspended in midair on the shelf where it belonged, she immediately folded her hands and gave the Luxray a small bow. "And a good afternoon to you, Mister Kirov," she replied, not really sure if that was how the assistant headmaster wished to be addressed as. Headmaster Kirov just didn't seem to fit, seeing as he wasn't really headmaster. However, his second statement threw her off. Normally the Luxray shifter wasn't much of a talker--he usually preferred to remain silent, at least from what Claudia had seen of him. She hadn't expected him to come up to the library, much less attempt to make small talk with her. Giving a smile, she replied, ""I'm doing fine. Just enjoying the quiet." With that, she relaxed slightly, deciding it would be rude to continue with her organization while the assistant headmaster was (at least, how Claudia was seeing it) attempting to make small talk with her. "And how are you this peaceful afternoon?" she ventured, also attempting to get the conversation started and to prevent any sort of awkward silence.
Part of her was worried, however, that the Luxray was there for some reason other than mere curiosity. He wasn't the type to come to the library very often, after all. Was she in trouble for something? Claudia began to wrack her mind to think of things that may stir the assistant headmaster's ire. But thinking of nothing, she began to wonder if something even worse happened--that she was being framed. However, despite her mind being a whirling tumult of fear and suspicion, she managed to continue looking as calm as ever, so as to not let on that she was worried. The Gardevoir managed to push all of the terrifying thoughts to the back of her mind, however, and replaced them with her initial thought--that the assistant headmaster was just coming up to chat. So, as a result, she decided to continue the small talk. After all, the worst that could happen was that the Luxray would remain silent and thus cause her attempts at conversing to fall flat.
"How has your afternoon been? It's a nice change of pace from the hustle and bustle, don't you think?"[/style][style=background-color: #f7f7f7;float: right; height: 370px; width: 100px; -webkit-border-radius: 0 10 10 0; -webkit-box-shadow: 1px 0px 5px #d4d4d4; padding: 10px; margin-right: -120px; margin-top: -400px; font-family: arial; font-size: 20px; color: #da2328; letter-spacing: -1px; ]notes sorry it's so short!

The jerking motion hadn't been missed by the Luxray's eyes, but he made no notion to acknowledge that he had seen it. Upon receiving the bow, he nodded his head deeply in return and would probably have bowed a bit more had he been in human form or a bipedal pokemon for that matter. The address of sorts was fine though he would have preferred something a bit more formal in nature.
At the reply, a half smile came and went from the Luxray's face. He could understand that easily enough. The quiet was a relaxing thing. At the returned question, Maksimilian fell quiet as his thoughts worked over the exact answer he wanted to give. It shouldn't really have been that hard to simply state that the day had been alright or possibly explain that he had been reprimanding students all morning, yet whereas telling someone how they had done wrong and what they needed to do to fix it was easy or even going over a lesson in a class the few times he had actually done it, making idle conversation was not for Maks. Instead, he found himself running over thoughts, phrases, words to try and find something to reply with that was logical, easily understood, and conveyed his meaning.
At the restatement of the question, even if changed slightly, Maks blinked realizing that he had just ended up standing there saying nothing for those few short moments -- or rather a solid minute had it been? He hadn't even realized that the time had shifted. Managing to come to a decision in the few seconds after this, he nodded his head slowly. "The morning was rather busy, but indeed, this afternoon has been rather peaceful," he replied in his calm, controlled voice. There now, that hadn't been too hard now had it? He had made himself clear and understood.
"I'm surprised there are not any students here today," he continued though his voice conveyed none of this supposed 'surprise' that he had apparently had. Despite this it was an odd thing to the Luxray. If students were not studying in the library, or causing mischief that he would have reprehended if he had seen it anywhere in the school, then what exactly were they doing? Most of the classes had ended had they not? Maybe just club or group activities then, yes. That was probably the best explanation. Despite having come to a conclusion, Maks didn't speak it, finding that he was never one to talk out loud in order to think and possibly just mildly condemned those that did.
