Born in the prestigious port of Lilicove to a sailor merchant and a pokemon researcher, Maksimilian grew up in a quiet home. With no other siblings but what appeared to be almost a surplus of maids and caretakers, the young Maks was never really alone, much to his disdain. Much like his parents, the young man preferred to be left to his own devices which usually consisted of reading outside, preferably in trees, and building different small mechanisms that happened to spring up by his own design. The most noteworthy of things that happened to him in his younger childhood was when he broke his arm falling out of a tree when he was around the age of six, much to the horror of the maids but more or less simply accepted it as a stage in the child's life.
As he grew a bit older, he began to spend more and more time outdoors, being a standard boy: climbing and jumping off of things, chasing and following after people and pokemon, and committing foolish acts with a group of older boys who had taken him up for the sole purpose of their own amusement. He'd do nearly everything to try and gain acceptance from his 'friends' not even realizing that they were making him look like a fool and not really seeking friendship of him. He would sadly only learn this after a rather horrible instance concerning one of the 'dares' he was given when he was around the age of eleven. Breaking off from the group, he became more solitary and reserved, refusing to even associate with others for a long time after that.
He spent a lot of time outdoors on his own and would take up pokemon training for a while alongside a Torchic he would raise all the way up to a Blaziken. One of his philosophies that established itself prominently in his mind consisted of his need to prove that he was strong enough to take care of himself even without pokemon. He trained alongside those he actually trained and worked just as hard as what he asked his pokemon to work. Because of this, his physique was much higher than that of the average child in his day. At the age of fourteen, Maks began to have dreams of various pokemon talking to him in straight English, and though at first it confused him, he soon grew to like and appreciate it. However, these dreams began to focus solely on a Luxray who seemed to be trying to tell him something very important though he wasn't sure of exactly what. These dreams would grow chaotic, and Maks would actually find himself frustrated at being unable to understand what the Luxray wanted.
He'd return home from his traveling to seek some sort of explanation as to why he was having these dreams, but only a few days after being at home, he startlingly transformed in the middle of dinner (with the servants seeing as his parents were still never home). Least be said: he scared them all with his screams of pain, fear, and the like as he transformed in front of them, save for one who seemed to be particularly interested in him. The one that was, in fact, unafraid of him, seized him by his lion ear and dragged him off. When she was sure they were alone, she stated that it was no longer safe for him there: people feared what they didn't understand, and she urged him to leave as quickly as he could. When he asked why she wasn't afraid of him, the woman just answered that she'd seen weirder things in her day, whatever that meant. Thus, Maksamilian took what little he had and left his house. He'd travel a long time after that, stuck in his Luxray form. Several humans would actually try and capture him, much to his surprise. He managed to fend them off but then came to the conclusion that he actually liked this change. He was able to fight beside his pokemon, fully on their level, and it was a perfect change.
Despite how much he liked his new form, possibly because of exhaustion, it seemed to 'wear off' and he finally transformed back and promptly passed out for nearly three days. When he awakened, he would find himself in a house with a family who would later end up taking care of him for a while. He'd learn that they were shifters, the term that he now learned to put to himself, and as he learned and understood more about the transformations, he became even more accepting of it. He liked changing and being in his more feral form. He'd learn of Avalon Academy from the family, and after a few talks, he went with the family's daughter, Matilda, to school at Avalon Academy. At the Academy, he would learn quickly and proved to be able to handle himself well. Though he was a bit too bold and ended up getting a rather interesting X cut across his face as a result, Maks managed to cool off considerably during his time there. He'd also grow closer to Matilda over his school years, and at the end of high school, they went to college there together.
He'd purpose to her when he was twenty-five, and after a bit of hesitating, she accepted. They got married only a year after that and lived on the island for some time peacefully. However, Matilda grew anxious and wished to return to her family back in Hoenn. Maks gave in and left the island and the sanctuary that it had with it. Upon their return home, Maks and Matilda would come back to a horrifying scene. Apparently, Matilda's family's house had been set on fire by some 'accident', and everyone inside had burned alive. Matilda would spend many days crying after that, and though he did his best to console her, Maks found it all but impossible. Matilda's depression would actually cause her to fall ill... or rather that was what the doctors said. She seemed to simply wither in front of him, much to Mak's horror. He begged, pleaded, wished dearly to every deity that could possibly exist in the world to help her overcome this, but Matilda died only a short year after that.
Robbed of his wife and his possible future children, Maks would fall into depression himself and would contemplate suicide several times only to find himself too much of a coward to take his own life. Thus, he ended up going home for a bit, only to find himself shunned there. Startled that his parents were actually home to do the shunning and even more surprised that they knew about his shifting as well as his marriage (which was supposed to have not left the island), Maks fled and begged the Academy to let him come back there. He had a degree, he could do something! Thankfully, they allowed him to come back, and for a short bit, he taught Battle tactics only to then take over as the Assistant Headmaster shortly after that. Thus he has been working there today.
