Tamira was born in Celadon City to a very wealthy family. Her parents were hardly home for her to bond with so she was usually stuck at home with her nanny, a kindly lady named Milly. Her nanny was the only parent that she ever knew and as a result she came to love Milly more than anything... Which was why she felt the most comfortable telling the nanny about what she experienced one night while lying asleep in her bed at the age of eleven...
Young Tamira had a dream about an umbreon... A beautiful umbreon with glossy fur, golden rings and piercing, crystal blue eyes. She felt one with the pokemon... Which was why the young girl was so confused when she awoke in horrible pain and her body changing shape. The girl didn't know what was happening or why, she only knew that it was the worst pain that she ever experienced...
The next day she was quieter than usual around her nanny and this caused some concern from her caretaker. She was finally coaxed into telling Milly what happened the night before... She was expecting the lady to tell her parents right away whereupon Tamira was sure that she would be sent away... However, Milly simply told her her own story of how she was a shifter herself. A kangaskan shifter. Ironically enough Milly never had any children but had come to think of Tamira as her own... Which was how she ended up getting fired from her job.
Tamira's parents had decided to send her away to a boarding school that Milly didn't approve of. The nanny grew fiercely protective of the child and argued long and hard with Tami's parents, she even heard that her parents were going to send the nanny away because of it. Not wanting to be sent to a boarding school or see the nanny get fired the young shifter ran away from home... She was caught shortly after by the police. She told them that she had no home and revealed her shifting powers to them when they tried to take her to an orphanage. Seeing her abilities they thought it best to send her away to Avalon Academy, where there were others like her.
