Shifters. Many say they are just a myth, and that they don't exist. Those who say they do exist only use them as an excuse for everything from toppled trashcans to great natural disasters.
But the truth is, every person in this world, regardless of shape or size, has an aura about them. This aura is often left untapped, save for dreams. Many times, people dream about being with a certain Pokemon, whether they be in battle, in a contest, or just doing something in an environment that makes them at ease. So what does that Pokemon that makes a recurring appearance in your dream have to do with this?
Legend has it that at one point in time, humans and Pokemon were the same. Shifters will be able to attest to that. If you are one of the few in this world that can tap into your aura, you will find that you are able to shift into that Pokemon that graces your dreams. But such powers always come with caveats. Humans have not yet accepted the fact that they were once Pokemon centuries ago. Shifters are considered alien. Many families have cast out children that have been discovered to be shifters. They are ostracized, attacked, and sometimes, they will even be killed by particularly violent people.
However, when the only daughter of a business tycoon in Sinnoh found she was a shifter right about the same time as she inherited her father's company, she decided to create a safe haven for young shifters who have struggled to find their place in the world. She named it Avalon Academy, as it served as a paradise, a safe-haven for shifters. With the academy established and with word being spread quietly throughout the world, very soon, shifters flocked to the small island off the coast of Sunyshore City in Sinnoh, and within weeks, the academy was up and running. Young men and women come to the academy to learn subjects like math and science, alongside unconventional things like shifting control, battle tactics, and contest tactics. Classes only take up a few hours of the day, so the rest of the students' time can be spent however they wish, either on campus or, with permission, out in Sunyshore City.
Many of the students are striving for one goal, the one Avalon Academy's founder had believed would only be a lofty vision. They are striving for equality. However, there are others that believe that trying to get equality will only lead to needless violence, and so they simply stand by. Tensions are beginning to run high, and very soon, they may very well snap.
