The product of a fling between two more-than-rough-around-the-edge teens who lived in Pyrite Town, Lucianus was given up by his mother a short few weeks after his birth. His earliest childhood memories don't have either of his parents in them, and instead, such memories formulated themselves around an orphanage on the outskirts of the town that had taken him up. Life was hard from the very beginning, and living near the notoriously vicious town didn't help anything. There was never enough to eat, and fighting among the children was very common. Despite this rough upbringing, Lucianus had a positive attitude like no other. He had an undying hope that someday he would be free to do whatever he wanted and never have to live in such horrible conditions every again. This actually got him beat up a lot especially considering the others there at the orphanage didn't have such hope or rather they didn't want to raise their hopes so high least they get smashed down into the ground again.
Though the orphanage was relatively poor, the children were sent to a public school in town: a thrust towards education in order to get the children to leave someday. Despite this general try, they were in Pyrite Town, and thus, what schooling could be offered was rather poor and inexcusably lax. Teachers didn't do much to rear students, and thus, those that wanted to do something generally got away with it. The few that wanted to learn rarely even got basic information out of the teachers anyways. In this general atmosphere, Lucianus grew unruly. He grouped with friends, or those whom he considered friends, and did rather horrible things to people. The worse you did, the more you were rewarded, and before he turned ten, Lucie had taken a pair of scissors to an old woman and cut her up before shaving her. Yes, he was horrendous.
Despite this, as children aged, they changed, and thankfully for Lucianus, there came a 'wake up call' that snapped him out of his devilish ways... or at least some of them. Sadly, it came at a rather horrible price. He was only ten when he witnessed his first murder. One night he and his friends had been messing around, and when a particular sarcastic but leader-type older boy suggested they go and rob a house, the others agreed easily. It should have been simple: go in and rob pillage and plunder whatever one could get his hands on. However, where the family shouldn't have been home, they were. The young robbers didn't know what to do at first, but after some obscure convincing, they took the family hostage and eventually killed them.
Well damn, that was a call that he hadn't expected and left Lucianus running for the sand pits dropping all that he had collected and all but breaking down the door to get home. Upon coming inside again, he didn't talk for a weak and fell ill after that. It was sometime during this that he began to have nightmares of those that he had seen killed. They were innocent people, damn it. They shouldn't have been home. However, this didn't change the guilt... at least for a while. He begin to dream about a Scizor rushing through the sand dunes, and though at first he didn't understand it, Lucie would continue to have the same dreams over and over and began to expect it. After a bit, it began to talk with him about the deaths of the family, and slowly it helped him come to peace. He broke ties with his previous friends and became more mature and Independence. Somewhere in this mix, the Scizor convinced him to take up art.
It was one of the best changes to his life Lucianus would ever know.
Art gave him peace, calm, and a bit of insanity. As images flooded his mind, he'd draw them anywhere and everywhere he could. The halls were soon colored in different pictures mostly of the other children, and though at first the workers of the orphanage condoned this, they soon came to accept it.
One night while he was up late drawing an image of a Scizor, Lucie shifted. It was a hard pressed and strenuous change, but after he found himself taller and stronger than before. Managing to change back again, he realized that he was some sort of living legend. Shifters had been heard about... or discussed, but they had never been ... well.. explained? Most people feared them, and this made Lucie fearful of himself for a brief time. However, he came to accept himself as he grew.
It was oddly on his sixteenth birthday that Lucianus would be adopted by a couple from Agate Village far in the north. It was odd enough that he would accidentally start to shift in their presence, seeing as he had learned that he could make interesting impressions with Scizor parts on paper and the like. He hadn't realized they were there until he had heard their reactions. The woman admitted that she too was a shifter and that her husband was as well. After quite a lot of discussion, Lucianus was adopted into the family and moved up north.
In Agate, he would receive more proper schooling. Apparently the couple were rich among other things. Despite how having more resources available, Lucie still loved to draw more than anything and would spend most of his days doing so. One night he cut his hand on accident and realized he could make blood paintings that were somehow more deep and meaningful to him than regular art. Thus, he began to cut himself daily and paint out his blood. This worried his 'parents' greatly, and there was a group intervention of sorts that followed around the time he turned seventeen, but after some talks and general mutual understanding was thrown around, they allowed him to continue on the prospect that he only took so much of his own blood.
Oddly enough, Lucianus's paintings were a hit like no other. Money floated in for the "blood works", and he grew relatively popular in the community, weirdly. By the time he was eighteen, Lucianus finished school and spent all his time to art. He'd meet a boy in the town whom he hadn't thought much of up until the point that the boy revealed that he too was an artist. Well this hit things off big time. They dated for a few years after that, had some good sex, and the general boyfriend-boyfriend love. During this time, Lucianus would start to cross dress more and more frequently and found himself rather comfortable as a drag queen. He grew his hair out, painted his nails, and became flat out girly. However, this would diminish in later years...
The break down came when Lucie finally managed to work up the courage to admit that he was a shifter. The boy didn't take well to this at all, and after some hard core fighting, drama, and a horrendous amount of stress, the boy whom he loved left Lucie. It left him devastated for a while. He couldn't even get up out of bed in the morning. He wouldn't eat, drink, or paint. All he wanted to do was sleep all day long. His parents worried greatly, and they tried to get him out of this slump, but they simply couldn't do anything to truly help.
However, Lucianus overcame things in a rather obscure way. He started dating a lot. He'd keep a person for a week at most and a day at the least before breaking up with them and moving on. This continued for nearly a year, and as he reached the age of twenty-two, he moved out of his parent's house and into his own for more privacy. He went back to his art and established a rather odd routine schedule: date, draw, sleep, eat, date, draw, sleep, eat. However, on one obscure day, he met another artist of sorts... oddly enough an undertaker who relished in taxidermy and the like. It was a different type of art, and Lucianus actually began to appreciate it. Thus he became an 'apprentice' of the undertaker only a few years his elder anyways... as well as lovers shortly after that. This would continue on for a few good years, and it would actually end up in a rather obscure proposal to which Lucie found himself quickly answering yes.
He had never been so happy: the thought of getting married and just being an artist with this man made him so giddy. However, through these years he had known the undertaker, Lucianus had been wary of revealing that he was a shifter. A few weeks after they'd set their wedding date, Lucie admitted what he was. The undertaker was surprised, but unlike Lucianus had imagined he would react, the man simply held him and told him he would be happy whatever shape or form Lucie was in. It cracked Lucianus for all he was, and he was beyond happy.
Despite this, that happiness wouldn't last. Those outside of the family would learn of what Lucianus and his family were, and a mob of fearful, angry people began to explode out of nowhere and infest the once peaceful town of Agate. Though the undertaker had tried to defend Lucie, in the end, the man was cut down before Lucianus's eyes. The red haired man had never known such rage, vicious hateful rage, and he quite literally shifted and killed a good number of people against everything he had built up until then.
He left Agate and began traveling shortly after that without any sort of aim or purpose. It was on some odd happenstance that he would learn of Avalon, and after some convincing, he managed to get a position there as the art teacher. Thus, he has been there ever since.
