While most people took their shift as something to just live with, Baba took hers a little more seriously.
Born in Fallabor Town, Baba was raised by her loving Mother and Father, along with her older Brother. Taught all the usual things a child is taught as they grow up; be polite, be kind, don’t talk to strangers - Baba grew into a well adjusted young woman. Shy and cute, Baba seemed like the perfect daughter; a dream for her parents and a playmate for her much loved older Brother. Everything was perfect; perfect house in a perfect town, inhabited by the perfect family. Perfect, perfect, perfect. And Baba wouldn’t have had it any other way.
It was when Baba was thirteen, just on the cusp of puberty, that her brother took in a wild, injured Growlithe. The family accepted the pokemon with open arms, slowly nursing it back to full strength and treating it as their own child. The brother adored it, the parents treated it well, and Baba thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. And, when the charming, little Growlithe was finally strong enough to be released into the wild, it returned the family’s kindness in full.
By burning down the house will all of them inside.
It took the neighbors much too long to force the front door down. The parents were already gone, as was Baba’s beloved older brother; the only one who survived long enough to be dragged out by the neighbors was Baba, herself. Unconscious and severely injured, Baba spent the next few weeks in intensive care, the Doctor’s slowly piecing her damaged body back together. Fading in and out of consciousness, the memory of the Growlithe spitting fire at her and her family firmly stuck in her mind, Baba finally met her aura pokemon, Banette.
The Banette sympathized with the distraught, broken girl. It told her how, together, they could get revenge; that their grudge would keep them going, even when they wanted to give up. It explained how, only by accepting it as her true self, she could find and annihilate the Growlithe that murdered her family. Too confused and angry to think of anything else but vengeance, Baba took the Banette and accepted the grudge.
Upon waking up, Baba found herself far smaller than usual. Smaller, lighter and, oddly enough, far stronger. Pushing herself out of bed and glancing in a nearby mirror, she soon realized she’d not only accepted the Banette as an expression of her true self, but she’d become one. Terrified of staying that way forever, Baba escaped the hospital through her window, fleeing the town and never returning. Her shift lasted far longer than most, lasting two days before it finally ended, returning Baba to her fully healed human form.
Tired, naked and alone, Baba hid in a nearby cave, quickly bonding with the numerous other ghost types. She was comfortable with them. They were her new family, after all; and, in her mind, they all had a grudge as powerful as hers. Eventually, it was a scientist that found the young girl, and reported her to Avalon Academy, who quickly collected her.

As a member of Hearts and Aura, I promise to make this place awesome and not to give Mariette any headaches, because I could get their banhammer to the face! Most importantly, though, I promise to have fun, because that's what roleplaying is all about, isn't it? ♥
